ECS-NJ invites you to join us for a focused session on tackling New Jersey’s severe affordable housing shortage. The bill’s sponsor, State Senator Troy Singleton, will join us for the first half-hour to discuss Bill S1836, the “Yes, in God’s Backyard” (YIGBY). This proposed legislation would empower religious and non-profit organizations to build affordable housing on their tax-exempt land, easing the state’s housing crisis by bypassing restrictive local zoning rules and providing state financial development assistance. Following the Senator’s remarks, the remainder of the session will be an open forum to discuss community impacts, implementation strategies, and actionable ways to support the bill’s passage.
