She has been a member of the vestry and a warden at St. John on the Mountain in Bernardsville as well as a member of the Finance and Mission Outreach Committees. As a physician she worked in pharmaceutical new drug development and teaches family medicine at Overlook Hospital. She feels extremely blessed to be able to work with ECS to lessen the inequities and injustices of our society with respect to shelter and food.
Catherine Ambos
Catherine Ambos, a member of Christ Church, New Brunswick, serves on the Vestry and chairs the Outreach Committee. In addition to volunteering at The Food Pantry and coordinating New Brunswick Laundry Love, Catherine also serves on the Advisory Board for Elijah’s Promise, Inc. She explains that having watched Elijah’s Promise, Inc., transform from three disparate feeding programs in New Brunswick during the 1970’s to a Community Kitchen serving 1,000 meals a day during the past year and a Culinary Program preparing local students for well-paying jobs, her dream is that ECS-NJ can develop a similar collaboration among parishes and organizations in order to create a synergy impossible to achieve by one parish working alone, thus allowing the Diocese to better address social justice and human needs.
The Rev. Tom Bartlett
Tom Bartlett is a vocational Deacon serving at Grace-St. Paul’s in Mercerville. While Tom and his wife reside in Hopewell, their two children both live on the west coast. Tom is still working and headquartered in Boston in addition to fulfilling his role as Deacon. Tom explains that a Deacon’s role is to make known to the Church the needs of those outside the Church. Thus, the mission of ECS-NJ could not be more appropriately aligned to that role and the vows by which a Deacon tries to live. Tom states, “I am so honored to be a part of this awesome initiative!”
Neva Rae Fox
Neva Rae Fox of St. John’s, Somerville, has served the Episcopal Church and many of its dioceses for more years than she cares to mention. Her profession and ministry is Communications, and she is committed to sharing the good news of ECS-NJ. Neva Rae does not understand how the greatest country in the world cannot – or will not – care for its people, and she is dedicated to partnering with the church to focus on, and advocate for, feeding, clothing, and housing our brothers and sisters.
John Gallup
John Gallup is a member and Warden at St. Luke’s in Gladstone. He and his wife Allyson have two kids—Jack and Hannah—and live in Long Valley. John is a lifelong Episcopalian, baptized and confirmed in Martin’s Brandon Church in Burrowsville, VA, where he grew up on a farm. John is excited about the mission of ECS to help feed and house the poor, two missions close to his heart.
Canon Clara Gregory
Canon Clara Gregory is a member of Trinity Cathedral, Trenton. Within the Diocese of NJ, she is the Jubilee Officer and a founding member of The Urban Revitalization Task Force. She also served as Vice Chair of Salvation and Social Justice, Inc., and is a member of the Advisory Board for the Rutgers University Institute, Health Care Policy and Aging Research as well as other human care organizations. Clara sees her work with ECS-NJ as an important part of her advocacy for justice and equality in healthcare, job development and social service. But even more, ECS-NJ provides a way to exercise her passion for serving the needs of others in obedience to the example set by Jesus Christ who steadfastly held to the knowledge that all people are equal, and all people are to be equally loved.

He has served in leadership roles both at Holy Trinity and St. Peter’s Perth Amboy, in the Kairos Prison Ministry and in Tres Dias Of Northern NJ, an ecumenical group similar to Episcopal Cursillo. After overseeing affordable housing programs for the State of NJ for over 30 years, he retired and his “encore career” has been spent working with nonprofit organizations from Perth Amboy to Camden putting into action what Jesus told his disciples in Matthew 25:40—”Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” ECS is showing our faith in Jesus by our actions.
