Who We Are
Episcopal Community Services of the Diocese of New Jersey (ECS-NJ) is an initiative that focuses on proactively addressing human needs, such as food and shelter, and relentlessly working against both social and racial injustice.
We accomplish these goals by:

Offering educational and training opportunities
How We Do It
Our focus on Gospel Justice is centered around our five core components:
Grant Making
Our grants are designed to expand existing compassion and justice ministries of congregations and make new ones possible.
Advocacy
We collaborates with a diverse range of community organizations to address pressing issues such as voter rights, social justice, and racial equality in the communities we serve.
Education & Events
We provide educational summits twice per year that focuses on programs and services.
Fundraising
We actively collaborate with the community, foundations, and grant makers to secure funding that supports our mission within the communities we serve.
Spiritual Resources
As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to participate in God’s mission of reconciliation, which motivates us to address and change systems that causes the oppression.
Our History
Episcopal Community Services of New Jersey (ECS-NJ) was established as a unified response by the diocesan community to address the numerous human needs served by the Diocese through its congregations. Equally important, ECS-NJ serves as a vehicle to unite the people of the Diocese in promoting gospel justice and effective, impactful advocacy aimed at addressing the often unjust causes of human need. The organization also facilitates the sharing of wisdom, experiences, and best practices among the people of the Diocese to more effectively serve Christ and His mission.
The necessity for such a ministry became particularly urgent during the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, which exposed significant inequities and injustices pervasive in the United States. In response, Episcopal Community Services of New Jersey was launched in 2021 with guidance from C.C.S. Fundraising.
Despite its relatively short history, ECS-NJ has already various ministries across 26 churches within the Diocese of New Jersey. Through its biannual summits and regular briefings, the organization has raised awareness and advocated for issues of vital concern to people of faith and residents of New Jersey.
