Grant Spotlight:
Inaugural Class Graduates
with HVAC and Plumbing Certificates
In Spring 2023, ECS-NJ gave a grant to San Andrés in Camden. The grant helped to create a special training course for people who want to learn about plumbing and HVAC. This course was held in the evenings and lasted for three months. The course was taught in both Spanish and English.
The course was made for people in Camden who were having difficulty finding jobs. This includes new immigrants, people who don’t have a lot of work, women, and people who don’t speak English well.
Twenty students finished the training in December 2023. They received a certificate and a toolbox to help them with their new skills. And guess what? More than half of them already have jobs!
