Episcopal Community Services of the Diocese of New Jersey (ECS-NJ)
SUMMER 2025
ECS-NJ Welcomes Rev. Tammy Young, Administrative Director

We are thrilled to welcome the Reverend Tammy Young as the new Administrative Director of ECS-NJ. Rev. Young joins us following the dedicated leadership of Father David Snyder, who served as Interim Director, and Deacon Trisha Thorne, Former Executive Director, before him.
From church administration to youth and street ministry, Tammy has been lending a hand and heart to God’s mission for over four decades. She brings to ministry a life-long passion for Gospel justice, social advocacy, and Christian formation.
Tammy attended General Theological Seminary where she received the Robert C. Denton award for academic excellence in the field of Old Testament studies. She graduated with honors in 2019.
Before attending seminary, she was blessed to serve as the Director of St. Mark’s Center for Community Renewal, Keansburg, a daily feeding program and social service resource center that served over 6,000 monthly meals in addition to countless hours of fellowship and support to community residents in need. Here, she helped to develop a resource network of approximately 125 interfaith and service agencies that worked together to empower vulnerable community members.
After her ordination in 2019, Tammy worked with joy as the Chaplain for Fellowship Village, a life plan community with approximately 200 residents in all stages of life. Today, she (also joyfully) serves as the Rector of St. John’s, Little Silver, and (now) the Administrative Director of ECS-NJ.
In her new role, Tammy looks forward to working with leadership from ECS-NJ and congregations from across the Diocese to help expand ECS-NJ’s presence and community engagement. “There is no denying these are critical and challenging times in our nation’s history and that of the world. Now more than ever, God needs our collective hearts, hands, and voices to do the hard work of God’s Kingdom. It’s my prayer that ECS-NJ will become an even more effective agent of the change and transformation Christ commands in the upcoming year. Because together, we really are stronger.”
In her spare time, Tammy enjoys studying Hebrew Scripture (particularly the prophets!) and loving on her housecat, St. Francis.
Tammy’s passion for service and strong commitment to our mission make her a wonderful addition to the ECS-NJ family. We are filled with delight and excitement as she begins this new chapter with us.
If you and your congregation or outreach committee would like to know more about ECS-NJ and the many ways you can be a part of this ministry, please reach out to Rev. Tammy at [email protected]. She’d love to visit (and preach).
